Do Not:
- Admit that the collision was your fault
- Fail to call the police
- Apologize for the collision
- Make statements or act in a way that you will regret later on
- Refuse treatment at the scene if offered
- Tell the police officer that you were not injured
- Wait for any period of time before getting an examination to see if you were injured
- Miss work without a doctors excuse
- Skip doctor appointments or fail to follow physician instructions
- Exaggerate your injuries
- Give a recorded statement to the insurance company
- Make an early settlement if you are still injured no matter how bad you need the money
- Lie to anyone about what happened or what your injuries are or how they have effected you
- Fail to notify your insurance company
- Drive a rental car for an extended period of time while you wait on yours to be fixed assuming that the insurance company will pay for it
- Use an insurance company repair shop unless you get a lifetime guarantee on the work
- Get in over your head. If the injuries are substantial, call a lawyer. You may regret not calling one
